New Year continued progress...

Welcome to 08 everyone! I had a wonderful holiday season, busy both in town and at the beach with family and friends. It was great seeing everyone. I have been pretty tired lately but i am diligently working on continuing to take steps and standing for increased lengths of time. Took my truck for a drive on the lake with some weary passengers - who did survive the trip. I really miss driving. FYI - wheelchairs suck in the snow, I nearly ended up making snow angels a few times.

I want to again thank all for your empowering support, recovery is happening!!

P.S. - any food including leftovers would be great alternative to Wascana mystery meat.

Thanks guys
Joel (man this took some time to type)

Sometimes it is hard to tell you just how much you matter and how much you make everyone smile because it really cant be put into words. You are strong Joel and you will continue to make huge strides. I bet you are even a better driver than me already!

As a passenger and instigator in the driving experience, I can say that it was as impressive as it sounds. Only once did we scare that family of 4!! It was so great to see you at Christmas, Guitar hero had nothing on the pair of us. I love you and can't wait to do it again - I"ll be a willing passenger and accomplice any time.

Hippo Beach Tales

When January comes with winter snows
That chill my private parts below
Then like most Hippos I am want to go
To Miami Beach or maybe Mexico.

So when the winter solstice come and gone
Most Hippos took charters at frosty dawn
For cheap cervezas with tacos of prawn.
Alas, I remained here, depressed and withdrawn.

Tis not I fear being a frequent flyer
For warmer climates I too aspire
But remain I must in this Hippo shire
Asshole! I let my air-miles card expire.

- Geoffry "Hippo" Chaucer

Joel! This news of your accident is relatively new to us. Dayna let us know recently. We're certainly glad we came in to it at THIS point because from what we gather the prognosis wasn't good in the beginning. NOW it looks like you're well on your way. Lorna, John and Debbi are keeping track of your progress. You go! Looks like you are and we have no doubt that you'll rule over all of this!
Love to you!
