Almost Fall

It's been a few days but lots to report. Doctor's visit with the surgeon went well and Joel will slowly be getting himself off his collar. He also repeated his wheelchair self-propelling movement a few more times and looked great doing it! Weekend has been good so far, with Aunt Peni and Uncle John visiting from Calgary. Lots of family stuff goin on, including a very special birthday party, and even a trip out to the beach for the first time in almost two months! Joel even made it back to Baldy's for a quick visit, though getting back up the hill was an interesting challenge. But everything turned out great and Joel is looking forward to a wonderful week of hard work and well-deserved rewards.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

....to everyone who helped clean the discustingly dirty "new" house on Saturday and everyone who unloaded the "loads" of stuff on Sunday. The new neighbours will no doubt be trying to figure out exactly who's moving in.... is it the 20+ women or the 3 guys? Keep them guessing.

Thanks to you all!!! Your generosity and thoughtfulness is so very much appreciated!

Joel, I hope you enjoyed your evenings adventure. I was thinking of you lots today.

Sleep well.

Lots of love,
Jan

Joel -

Still missing you in the hallways of the sound stage. Still looking for the size ??? lady's pumps you mentioned you were looking for some time ago (know I have them in storage somewhere -- do you want the black suede stack heels or the red velvet boots? Still very proud of you.

Still planning to come visit --'though by the sounds of it you will be heading my way before I get it together enough to come see you.

And it's really not very funny to make fun of us old people -- your time will come pal!

It was great to see you out at the lake on Saturday although I got to tell you I sure missed you on Sunday for the annual boat lift removal day. I did however, come to a startling conclusion during the procedure. When we got there Shane put on his white hard hat and stood up by the boat house making strange and obscure hand signals of some indeterminate origin presumeably aimed at removing the lifts from the water. Your uncle John was there also but he just wandered up and down the shore complaining about how we were overtaxing his limited physical resources.(Trust an Albertan to turn a simple project a tax issue.) Vern and Steve just stood around smoking and drinking beer while Kenny spent the entire time ensuring he didn't get any protruding parts of his anatomy caught in the boat lift mechanisms - again. Once pinched twice shy I guess. Anyhow, the startling conclusion I arrived at was, that apparently for all these years you and I were the only guys actually doing any lifting.
I don't think I can excuse your absence from this annual endeavor again next year. So you'd better shape up and show up next spring.

Just checking out your progress from school. Once again, I cannot express to you how amazing you are and just how proud I am of you. I hope that you are still pushing hard every day...knowing you, there is no alternative. OK, boy. That is all for now. I will try calling you again soon, though I know that you must be beyond busy.-ju

Joel,

Not to sure who the hippo beach representative is, but that was one of the best posts I have read yet. I little humor a little sarcasm and a whole lot of motivation.

Stay focused and keep up the good work.
My thoughts are with you daily. Cameron O.
